ARIES (March 21-April 19): Do you know what an expansion joint is? No, it's not slang for a marijuana cigarette you smoke in hopes of enlarging your worldview. Rather, it's an architectural term referring to the flexible sections that are built into a bridge or brick wall. These ensure that the structure can safely adjust as its construction materials expand and contract in response to changing weather and temperature. Since I expect that you will be building a new metaphorical edifice or renovating an existing one in 2008, I wanted to get you thinking about this.

Expansion joints should be a key element in your plans. In fact, now is a perfect time to meditate on how to make them and where they will go.

Humanness almost requires that we fall into ruts of thought and motion. It can seem to take herculean effort to shift our ennui besotted neuro pathways from routine to something new.

No thanks #1 So I'm watching some commercial television with my son, a rarity in and of itself, and I have to turn off the sound because I can't stand it anymore. First came the sexualized commentary on an Animal Planet show, and then the inane music and narrative on another, plus the ridiculous commercial I endured one too many times - a dour female who expresses the fact that she has the post-holiday blues. But wait - a sale at a national retailer will make you feel better! Puh-leeze. I've had enough. I'm not buying the marketing to children of adult content, the commercialism of the holidays, and I'm not buying your handy antidote to what you created, Culture. No, thanks. I'm fine the way I am.
